Motorcycles keep you young

Last Sunday my friends Brian & Dr. Dave decided we would take a little ride. Dr Dave has a friend who is quite the character.  Above are a few pictures of the guy I had the great fortune to meet. He owns a big parcel of land and a huge shop.  I wont mention his age but he is a quite a bit older then me. His shop is not your average over clean under used place. It is filled with memories and projects and parts of projects and parts waiting for the next project. A mix of two wheel, four wheel and no wheels. Each has a story and everyone has a memory associated with it. While the parts and projects have a value, it is clear the memories are to him priceless.

Our common bond however is motorcycles. His eyes glow when he talks about bikes. His memory is vivid of past ride, past riding buddies, and past roads traveled. Each one an adventure he treasures more then money.

It is clear he is much younger at heart then his chronological age.  His fountain of youth I believe is his family and his motorcycles which intertwine like strands in a rope.  My riding history starts in the Mid 70's his begin decades before mine but motorcycles are our common bond.  After a minute of chatting he treated me like an old and dear friend, all because of shared love of motorcycles and a common past.

While we never both had grease on our hands from the same bike we both had grease on our hands from bikes. We had not ridden the same road but both heard the same song of the road.  We were not "bikers" we were riders...

It was a great chance to meet a great man.  We both smiled and knew it was true when I told him that there are two kinds of people in the world; People who ride motorcycles and those who secretly wish they could...
